Bridge City Phone System has Gone AWOL…Sorta.

Drivel Starved Nation;

Remember the old saying, “No plan survives the collision with reality.“? It’s true.

It’s a long story, and I won’t bore you with the details, but our voice mailbox is not working and will not work for another couple of weeks. Apparently, porting an 800 number from one carrier to another is not an overnight thing. To get around the delay, we have forwarded all of our incoming lines in Portland to the new Montclair office. Because these are forwarded calls, the voice mailbox has become an issue. We can’t access it without disabling the call forwarding feature. Dumb.

So… if you run across some cranky customer on the internet complaining how we do not return calls, PLEASE give them my email address; john@bridgecitytools.com. I answer all cranky emails each and every day which is my favorite part of the day! Thanks for understanding.

The good news here? The SA-2v2, SA-1v2 and the SA-3v2 awls are going out this week!

"I was eating in a Chinese restaurant downtown. There was a dish called Mother and Child Reunion. It's chicken and eggs. And I said, I gotta use that one." — Paul Simon

Saturday, October 20!

Drivel Starved Nation-

I promised to leak this info to those that follow this Totally Awesome and Worthless Blog and I did.

I am sure you will get a formal invite from the new Team BCTW in a couple of weeks–I hope you can make it!

This is your chance to meet the new BCTW team and Jack Xu and share your thoughts. Since your favorite Tool Potentate will be there, maybe this  is a great time to have the last “old school” BCTW reunion? Maybe Friday night?

That is for the DSN to decide, I just need to know where to show up!  If you are planning on attending, please RSVP to this post, that way others can see who is coming and what kind of party it will really be!

More later-

-John

Meet the New Bridge City Team in California…

At the end of the day, if I can say I had fun, it was a good day. — Simone Biles

Drivel Starved Nation!

We are down to the last two weeks (TRUE) of our 35 year run in Portland. It is a bit crazy here at the moment, we are  packing and planning our last blow-out sale.  Most of the really good stuff is now on eBay.

If all goes well, the Montclair, CA office of the new Bridge City Tool Works will open on August 6th.  Fingers crossed!  (TRIVIA QUESTION: What favorite TOOL POTENTATE claims August 6th as his birth date?) Continue reading

Bridge City Blog BLOW-OUT Sale!

"We must use time as a tool. Not as a couch."— John F. Kennedy

Drivel Starved Nation,

Say “Big Bridge City Blow-Out Bonanza” as fast as you can as many times as you can!

Wow. Our little-blow out sale for the combination square kits didn’t last long. Thank you! I may have up to 20 more of these in mid July if I can get a part made for a reasonable price, so stay tuned.

There will come a day, in the not to distant future, where our shop and warehouse will be empty and these cool deals will disappear forever.

In this “Blog Blow Out” sale, our second, we are liquidating combination square blades. We have maybe 100 or so of each, so I Continue reading

"Winners embrace hard work. They love the discipline of it, the trade-off they're making to win. Losers, on the other hand, see it as punishment. And that's the difference." — Lou Holtz

Drivel Starved Nation!

We are slowly beginning the process of liquidating our Portland office. For those of you who are looking for discontinued tools, we are putting about 60 of them up on eBay over the next couple of weeks.

Today, while putzing around in our shop, I found yet another box. Why I found this I don’t know, but I think you might like this little weekend project; Continue reading

Drivel Starved Nation!

I would like to thank all of you for your generous support regarding my transition into retirement. It is not something that is easy to do, and there are days where I question my decision making abilities… but it is a done deal and I am committed, and looking forward to what the future might bring.

I have been informed that there are three new BCTW hires in the LA office and the week after the July 4th holiday, they will be in Portland for a week of training, so we are methodically attempting to make a seamless transition.

Consuelo is still as cranky as ever with baby 84 kicking around. FYI.

Before I share the fruits of today’s field trip, I want to thank all of you who have offered me congratulations and encouragement on the transition of Bridge City Tool Works to Harvey Industries.  This is a friendly reminder that I am still going to be around for the next two years so I am not dead yet.
